Why is the District Putting a Bond on the Ballot?

Because existing bonds are retiring, the proposed $16.5 million bond is not expected to increase the current bond tax rate, which is estimated to remain at $0.91 per $1,000 of assessed value.

If approved by voters, the bond would also allow Glide School District to receive more than $6.1 million in matching funds through the Oregon School Capital Improvement Matching (OSCIM) Program.

These state funds are only available to districts with voter-approved local bonds and would provide additional resources to complete more facility improvements without increasing the local tax rate.
